2nd 6-in-1 jab & Rotavirus on 22 Apr 08

This was what I wore when I went for my jab! Do I look big here?

We went to Kid's Clinic in Sengkang for Eve's 2nd 6-in-1 jab & Rotavirus (prevention oral medicine for diarrhoea) in the late morning. Although we had an appt with Dr Allyson Tan (her paediatrician) at 10.30am, we waited till 11.30am. During the checkup, Dr Tan commented the following:

Eve's weight is healthy @ 50% percentile
Eve has steadily increased her weight & usually a bb will doubled her birth weight @ 4th mth but she has almost doubled @ 3rd mth - so she's good!
Eve looks alert & active
Eve starts to recognize people
Eve behaves & seems like a 4 mth old baby
Eve can lift up her head very steadily (when put on her tummy)
Eve can lift up her shoulder firmly (when put on her tummy)
Eve is talkative girl (Because she coos, erhs & responds so much to Dr Tan)
Eve is a pretty girl
Eve is fierce! (Because she was screaming & making so much noise)

After the checks, Dr Tan fed her Rotavirus oral medicine & administered the 6-in-1 jab into her right buttock. She let out a cry and was alright after that. I think she's pretty brave and didn't really cry out like a wailing child! We were afraid that she'll develop fever due to the jab and fed her paracetamol once we reached home. Luckily, Eve was fine throughout the day and still as active as always. She doesn't need any jab now until 2 mths later on 24 Jun 08 @ 1130hrs for her 3rd jab.

Weight: 5.9kg

Length: 62cm

At first I was worried about her growth and development because she was considered pretty short in length (47cm) at birth. However, she has caught up with the average babies in length and weight. I am also very happy that Dr Tan said she's like a 4 mth old baby in terms of behaviour & actions. I think she has grew pretty well & fast and I start to think "Hmm, perhaps it's due to my breastmilk which makes her more alert, active & intelligent!" Suddenly, I felt that all my nightshift and great efforts in latching & pumping paid off well. I should continue my duties as a conscientious mummy!

First Outing with Daddy & Mummy - 21 Apr 08

Today is the 1st outing for our little family. My daddy & mummy brought me to Ngee Ann City for shopping.

I was a good baby today, didn't fuss much and sit in my pram obediently. I also played with my daddy very much today, making a lot of noise and some screaming... On the right is a picture of me & my mummy taken in gong-gong's car. He gave us a ride to Orchard.

We went home by MRT and it's the 1st time I took a MRT ride. Some riders were kind enough to offer seats for my mummy who was carrying me. I slept most of the journey home. My daddy & mummy were glad that I was happy today and behaved well! :)

Happy 3 mth old

Evangeline is officially 3 mth old today. For a 3mth old baby, I tink she's very

active
talkative
sociable
cute
playful
chubby
etc, etc...

Recently, we noticed that she loves playing water because whenever we bath her, she'll be very excited and uses her legs to kick n kick the water. When we bring her up after her bath and starts cleaning her dry, she will start screaming and cries very LOUD! She wants to continue playing with water. It has been like this for the past week and it takes a while for her to cool down... She has more playtime now too. Whenever she's awake, she wants to be entertained. Be it talking to her, tickling her, make funny noises to her, etc.. she loves it! She will starts laughing and screaming.. We tink that she doesn't behave like a 3mth old baby. It's more like she's oredi 5 or 6mths old. The other day (abt 1wk ago) my aunt, Sally commented "2mth plus baby behave like that one meh??!!" Because Eve was yelling and screaming away, wanting ppl to talk to her and entertain her... As what she remembered, 2mth old baby supposed to be sleeping, sleeping and more sleeping. It's such a funny and loving site to see. It's so nice to see her grow..

Tomorrow, both James & I are bringing her to Orchard Road (Takashimaya) for shopping. On Tuesday is her 2nd injection of 6-in-1 and oral rotavirus. I'll update her well-being soon.. Do stay tune... :)

Evangeline's neck has grown stronger now.. She can lift up her head wif both her hands supporting on the mattress... during tummy time. Today is her 2nd mth, 3rd wk & 4days. It's another milestone for her! Mummy is proud of you, gal! :)

Breastfeeding days

It's 3.35am in the morning. It's been a regular routine for me to be up at this hour. In the past, I was up at this hr due to 1)watching cable, 2)reading books, 3)surf Internet, 4)just back from work, 5)talking on the phone and on... But ever since the birth of Evangeline, the only basic reason why I'm awake at this wee hr is because I am breastfeeding Evangeline, followed by pumping out all the leftover milk... It's no longer days of me time anymore... Sometimes, my mom will not wake me up to feed Eve, but I still wake up.. Why? How? Simply because, my breasts will be so heavy and difficult to continue sleeping. It's an auto thingy that I've to get up to release all the milk... I feel that I've changed quite a fair bit because I used to be such a sleepyhead whereby I can sleep up to 18hrs straight in a row after a long flight. It's no longer the case now. The most I can get on some extremely tired days is 6hrs!!! Dat's simply too little for me, a person whom loves sleeping! But for the sake of Eve and to give her the best, I chose to breastfeed. With this, it comes with sacrifices.. I accept it willingly and will persevere until she's 6mths old. Because breast milk is the BEST food for her! Gambatte!!!

These are all the milk that are been expressed out. (These are just in Clementi, I've another batch in Pasir Ris home!) It has been accumulating, accumulating and Eve is not drinking them because most of the time I latched her on. I've given 2 batches to my friend to feed her 1mth old baby and also giving to Glenn Lim (my little 2.5yrs old cousin). My parents say it's good to provide some good nutrients to others who may need them but don't get them...

Breast milk can be stored :-

Up to 4 hrs in room temperature
Up to 2 days in chiller
3 to 6 mths in a freezer (longer storage time if freezer has a separate compartment)

See my face? I was hurt on my right cheek (badly bruised) when Dr delivered me. He said I was in a offside position. Luckily, I recovered over the weeks.

This is the first blog that my mummy is doing for me... First, I would like to self-introduce.. My name is Evangeline Teng. I'm born on 20 January 2008. I'm the princess in the family because I'm the first child of my daddy and mummy.

Currently, my mummy and mama are looking after me. Once my mummy starts working, I'll be under the care of my mama... Pictures speak a thousand words..So, without delay...my mummy is gonna post many many pictures of me...

My 1st visit to Airport Terminal 3
